Daughters are the sweet flowers of life

What a beautiful day today!!!  The weather here the last several days has been gorgeous.  Temperatures have been in the low 80's with a light breeze.  Unfortunately today will be the last of those days, as hotter days are ahead for us.  I've got a layout to share with you today that I just finished up for the Workout #70  Develop Your Own Polaroid at ScrapFit. I knew when I saw this challenge that I wanted to join as as I have lots of those good old polaroids from way back when.  I chose to work with two pictures of my daughter when she was only 6 months old back in 1990.  Love these pictures of her, even though they were a little hard to work with given the bright gold couch she is sitting on.

I used a mix of papers from Authentique's Delightful collection along with Graphic 45 Little Darlings, along with a lot of fussy cut work and several border punches.

Alright, time for me to go . . . lot's to get done around the house this morning.
Thanks for stopping by!

Finally . . .

Well, its' been over 12 days since I posted a layout and I'm happy to say that I've got one to share with you. It may have been sitting on my scrapbook table for awhile as I slowly worked on it, but given how I have felt lately it was a good feeling to get it finally completed. I used my June kit from Artful Delight packed with Simple Stories Summer Fresh papers and stickers, perfect for beach pictures and the sunshine theme for the  June 1st challenge at Get Creative.  Before I share it with you I wanted to thank everyone that left me so many kind and encouraging comments on my last post. They meant a lot to me!  Today I'm in a good place and I hope that it continues.
Working on this layout was a walk down memory lane.  The year, 1989 and my son and his cousin enjoying sun filled days at the beach.  There is a year difference between the two of them and summer vacation at the beach they were always inseparable.  My little guy in the pictures in the one holding the bottle!  I really enjoyed working with the Summer Fresh Collection by Simple Stories.

On another note Saturday my sister and I went to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Virginia.  It's been years since I attended it.  I did get to meet and talk with Jenni Bowlin who had a booth there.  She is truly one sweet person.  I loved her booth decorated with some fabulous layouts,  her new products and lots and lots of vintage goodies. I also got to meet and talk with Jill Yegerlehner, owner of Jillibean Soup.    It was nice to meet the faces behind these two companies.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Lost . . .

I've been struggling again with my scrapbooking.  Every time I feel like I'm back on track life throws me off .  I've thought about taking a break from scrapbooking and blogging as the enjoyment is not there as it use to be.  The journey I have been on with my mom and her Alzheimers has been a life changing one for me.  I have emotions that I can't label.  I feel empty inside.  The person that I was last summer when she was first diagnosed is lost and I worry that I may never be found.  I am now the parent and my mom is the child.  The sweetness is now anger and the memories once so precious in her mind are just about gone.  Some days she knows who I am, her daughter, other days I am just  the person who helps her out.  I'm filled with sadness over her loss and do the best I can each day to take care of her and spend time with her. Today was an especially hard day for me. She lashed out at me in front of people and accused me of things.  I know it is her illness that does this, but for me it was the first time she has done this.  I know I do the best for her, but wondered what others thought about what she was saying about me.  After I left her today I sat in my car and cried,  wishing all of this was a bad dream that I could wake up from.  I hold onto the special memories I have of her for those memories are of the mom I love.  I miss my mom terribly.

Sorry for rambling on, it's just been one of those days. . .

Togetherness

It's a dreary day here.  Rain has been falling all day and it's quite humid and foggy outside.  Not the best day to take a picture of a layout I just finished for the current challenge over at Challenge Me Happy.
I snagged another picture from Julina's facebook wall of her two cute kiddos, Zoey and Drayson!   I knew when I saw this picture it would go perfectly with my Amy Tangerine Sketchbook papers and the scraplift challenge at Challenge Me Happy.  We had to scraplift Nina's layout:
Here are a few closeups:
A few sprinklings here and there with some Tuscan Sun, Lemon Zest and Blue Skies Glimmer Mist.
Well that's about it for today.  I've got a few more layouts in the works and hope to be able to finish them up in a couple of days and share them with  you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Times

I love to snag pictures from my friend Julina's Facebook page.  Especially ones of her cutie pie little daughter Zoey!!  I love this picture of her, she is so adorable.  I recently came across some papers by Creative Imaginations, Loolah collection that I had purchased awhile ago and used them along with the May sketch over at My Creative Sketches.

Here is the May sketch:

and a few closeups of my layout:

I did a lot of fussy cut work and added in some Websters Pages bloomers.
