Birds Of A Feather Flock Together

I came across this picture of my kids back when they were little, Sara was only 6 and Jeffrey 9 with their little cousins, Marina and Griffin.  I adore how sweet  Marina and Griffin are in this picture.
I had discovered a new blog last month, Sweet Peach Crop Shop and love their kits.  They have two kits to offer per month, Sweet or Juicy,  along with add on kits.  I purchased their April  Juicy kit filled with this lovely Cosmo Cricket paper, flowers and ribbon.  They also have a monthly sketch challenge.  This month their sketch is by Liz Qualman.
Love these flowers that were in the kit.  The adorable birdie button above the flowers I purchased from Sam over at the Purple Pumpkin.  She has some amazing embellishments for sale.
The chipboard bird cage and birds are by Maya Road.  All I did was add a little ink. The tree branch was cut from the Cricut Serenade cartridge and the leaves were from a punch.  The banner is an American Crafts stamp.

Life With You . . . Is Timeless

It's Friday and that means a new challenge over at Frosted Designs!  This week's challenge is arrows.  I found these adorable pictures of my son when he was just two years old.  Wasn't  he just the cutest little thing ever!!!
All of the papers are from the Lily Bee Design, Hello Sunshine collection.  I thought it blended so well with the colors in the pictures.  Part of my title is rub ons from the collection and the rest are quickutz.  The bright colorful butterflies are by Petaloo!  This layout qualifies for the current challenge over at Practical Scrappers, which is to use 7 or more items on your project.  I used 8 different papers, rubons, chipboard, butterflies, stitching, wire, ink and die cut letters!

Surf's Up - Imaginisce July Sketch

Good morning to all and a happy Saturday!  I want to thank all of you who left me such kind words of encouragement on the passing of my father in law.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

It's been a long week emotional week.  Last night I set aside some time for me and worked on this layout.
I love this new collection by Imaginisce, Splash Dance.  So perfect for beach pictures.  I used the July Skecth over at Imaginisce's blog.
Actually it's a card sketch, but you know I prefer to do layouts.  The only thing I did different was rotate the sketch and instead of a bow, I added a scalloped border.
To give the effect of water and waves, I cut out several pieces of the water paper, Ocean Motion and added some pop up dots for dimension.
I added a few clouds and added this cute banner.

Two Reveals and Creative Scrappers Sketch #113

It just so happens that I have two DT reveals for you today!
My first layout is for my DT reveal over at She's A Sassy Lady.

I used some beautiful paper by Lily Bee Designs from their Lovely Collection.   These pictures were taken last year of some of the beautiful Cosmos in my garden.  I used Creative Scrappers Sketch #113.

My second reveal is for Sketches in Thyme . . .
We have another breath taking sketch by Moma.  Please take a look at her beautiful layouts and sketches
http://scrapsketches.blogspot.com/
I again used some paper by Lily Bee Designs, Lovely Collection.  I thought these papers blended so well with the old photo of my mom, her brother and their little friend.
The beautiful lace work above the circle and paper clip on the photo were part of the gorgeous June RAK I won over at Lynne's blog http://mymadkow.typepad.com/mymadkow/ . If you wondering why all the Lily Bee paper, they have a contest running through the end of the month.  You must submit three layouts using their products.  The winner will receive some of their new releases along with a September guest designer spot.  I have two completed and one more to go!  Wish me luck!
Thanks for stopping by . . . Debbie

In Loving Memory . . .

This morning I lost my father in law, Tex to cancer.  Even though I have been divorced for 5 years, my in laws have been a part of my life. Tex was diagnosed last Tuesday with cancer.  We are  sadden with his quick passing, but find comfort in knowing that  he is now at  peace and with God. We will miss you Tex.  We will hold our memories of you within our hearts and minds.

Our Travels - Paper Poppy Kit Co. July Sketch and Circle Challenge

It's been a long week, extremely hot and to top it off, yesterday morning at 5:04 am I was awoken to a rumbling, which ended up being a 3.6 earthquake that hit the Maryland area.  The epicenter of the quake was approximately 5 miles from my home.  Never thought in a million years that an earthquake would hit Maryland.
Last night I put aside everything that needed to be done and focused on a layout.
This picture was taken back in 2002 in Gettysburg, PA.  We had taken a family outing along with my girlfirend and her family.  We took a guided tour of the battlefields in this old vehicle.  The kids thought it was the neatest thing!  I used my July Paper Poppy Kit, A Ticket To Ride, and these wonderful papers and chipboard shapes from the Cosmo Cricket Joy Ride collection.
I based my layout on the July sketch layout at Paper Poppy Kit Co., along with their current challenge which is to use circles on your layout along with at least two items from their July kit.

Picking Strawberries

It's Friday and that means a new challenge over at Frosted Designs!  This week's challenge is to use border punches.  That's any easy one for me, because between my Fiskars and Martha Stewart border punches, I have a lot to choose from!
One of my favorite border punches is the scallop punch by Fiskars.  I used it here on my Picking Strawberries layout.  I used a combination of papers from October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket.
I used another old picture I got from my mom of my grandfather picking strawberries.  I used some inks to add a little color to the picture.
I love these foam alphabet thickers by American Crafts.
Thanks for stopping by!

Soar . . . Sketchy Thursdays Sketch 7.8 and July Paper Poppy Kit Co., A Ticket To Ride

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.  We got some much needed rain this morning!  We've had quite a dry spell here in Maryland and every little drop of rain is welcome!  I just finished up this layout tonight.
This photo was taken back in the summer of 2003 at Hershey Park, PA.  Sadly, this was the last family vacation we took together before my marriage ended. Some where up there in the picture is my daughter and her dad.   I based my layout on the current sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays, Sketch 7.8.
The ever so wonderful and colorful papers and embellishments are from my July Paper Poppy Kit, A Ticket To Ride. With the exception of a few pieces from my stash, all of the rest is from the kit.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

My Little Sandman - Creative Scrappers Sketch #111

Hooray it's Friday!!!  Work wise it's been a short week, only four days, but those four days sure went by slow. So glad the weekend is right around the corner.  I've been busy looking through old photos of my kids and came across this one of my son when he was only 1 year old.  We were on vacation at the beach.  We dug a small hole for him to sit in and mounded the sand in front of him to look like a car.  He had so much fun!! I'm so glad that I have this picture to capture the memory.
I based my layout on Sketch #111 over at Creative Scrappers.
I thought the paper I used for perfect for this layout.  It is by We R Memory Keepers, Comstock collection.  I found it when I was organizing all of my papers.  I know I have had it for awhile.  The lettering is October Afternoon and the cute beach embellishments are by Recollections.  I used some Blue Skies Glimmer Mist on the background.
